I think what tl1000s97 is saying is correct. The ECU's by default have 2 sets of maps usually with the same settings. Maybe this is to help during development?
I have a VZR1800 and on the forums they talk about removing the exhausts and replacing with noisy ones, imagine that on a cruiser 
To remove the F1 error light Suzuki say to remove a wire from the ECU so I would guess this is the MS0 and MS1 select pin. I have a later model and the pin number is not used on my harness/ecu and so far not been able to find which pin it is.
