The 12v relay is a switch that powers the ZT-3 directly from the battery. You hook the trigger part of the relay into a switched power supply e.g. tail light that is only powered when the key is turned on. The switched part of the relay powers the ZT-3 directly from the battery through the relay. This configuration ensures that the wideband is only powered when the bike key is on and that the power for the wideband is taken directly from the battery and not any of the ancillary circuits on the bike. Any standard 12v 30 amp automotive relay will work fine, you can generally pick them up at automotive electronics shops for $10-$20. |
